Preemie in NICU for 3 weeks and dad hardly visits?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and sort of stick up for the boyfriend. Not everyone is fond of hospitals, in fact some people are downright scared of them. He may have been nervous seeing the baby in the hospital in the NICU or even scared by it. Sometimes men don't show emotions well and do things differently than we would. Maybe he was even sort of "preparing" himself in case something went wrong and the baby didn't make it by not getting too involved. It seems like you are BOTH being immature. I mean why did you lock yourself in the room? Were you really afraid he was going to hurt you? Because if that's the case, then by all means, stay away from him. But if it was just a little bit of a childish act, then you're to blame a little, too. And he's right-- Just because he didn't do a good job in the first few weeks of her life does not mean that he shouldn't have any contact with her now. He is STILL her father. As far as the money situation, that sounds like a whole other conversation. If you two are going to try & work it out, you need to sit down with him and talk about money.
