Why do people feel the need to downplay the social side of sex?

Well, sex IS natural. How we think and talk about it may be social, but that doesn't change the act itself. I do think this turning of sex into a competition is ludicrous and pathetic, but the only thing to do is not engage in that kind of thinking.
