Why does my wife ignore my needs?

I've been married to my wife for 11 1/2 years now and I don't understand why she won't talk about compromise. I don't talk to her hardly any more because she won't actually listen to what I'm saying and prefers to put less interest in them. I expect her to keep the house clean (clothes, etc. picked up) rather than leave the house a mess half the time. She's good at taking care of the household, most of the time, and I've bought her so many things and have taken care of her, but when I have a problem with something she seems to downplay the seriousness of it, never apologizing but making some excuse like she was too busy or something. I only want to talk it over about problems in this marriage and make compromises, make it a 50/50 bond, that's all. No one's perfect but matters can be agreed on.
